Eroica California has brought the extraordinary experience of vintage cycling to be shared with our side of the world. It’s an event that sets out to forge bonds between cyclists from all across the globe.
California’s Eroica Classic has featured four routes: the Piedras Blancas Route, the Santa Lucia Route, La Via Scalatore, and the namesake Heroic Route. These are in addition to the two Eroica NOVA routes. Each offers unique twists and turns that must be experienced to be believed.
NOVA Eroica and NOVA Eroica Short offer cyclists a chance to experience Eroica California on modern bicycles, in a group ride atmosphere with fun, timed segments. While the classic Eroica event is only open to vintage road bikes, the NOVA Eroica routes open it up to any road and gravel bike. All of these routes can be explored year-round by Central Coast cyclists—just make sure to plan some stops near the route for food, water, and bathroom breaks. Check out our listings below.
Who Can Ride Eroica California?
While participants of all ages are welcome to participate, the routes are long-distanced and require a level of comfort and awareness for riding on roads with cars and routes with gravel.
Does Eroica California Have a Virtual Option?
Eroica California is a live, in-person event. However, Cycle Central Coast organized virtual events with similar routes after Eroica California was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Check out our previous virtual events for the Eroica Challenge 2020 and Eroica Challenge 2021.
